Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) Information

 

The Rocky Mountain Association for Financial Professionals is a strong supporter of the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation of the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP). This designation is an indication that the holder has a base level of knowledge of treasury management as well as the willingness to stay current in the industry by obtaining continuing education in treasury topics.

I have already received my CTP certification. What opportunities do I have to earn renewal credits?

 

You have the ability to earn all of the required 36 credits within one year or during the course of the three-year certification cycle with any of the following options:

 

  • Attendance at Conference & Seminars- 1 credit per 50 minutes of instructional time pre-approved by AFP (For example: RMAFP Monthly luncheons, RMAFP Annual Summit, AFP Annual Conference)

 

  • Volunteer Service/ Leadership (maximum 10 credits per cycle)
    • 1AFP Board Officer= 5 credits
    • 1Regional AFP/TMA Board= 4 credits
    • Committee or Task Force member= 3 credits
    • Community organization officer (Treasurer, bookkeeper)= 2 credits

            1Annual credits; can use only 10 credits per reporting cycle

 

  • Individual membership in a treasury-related organization (maximum of 12 credits per cycle)

§ AFP, AFP of Canada, Corporate Treasurers Council or Society of Canadian Treasurers= 4 credits

§ Other national or international associations= 2 credits

§ AFP/TMA Regional group= 1 credit

 

  • On-the-Job Experience (maximum of 15 per cycle)

§ First time work experience for activity that adds to the understanding of the treasury management body of knowledge

§ Final work product requires certificate holders to learn new things, examples are:research, design and implement an in-house bank

§ Issue a RFP, evaluate responses, select a vendor, implement

 

  • Independent Study- Book Report (NEW)

 

  • College/University courses- Now Earn: maximum of 16 credits (originally 12 credits)

 

  • Serving as a speaker or lecturer- 2 credits per 50 minutes of instructional time (credits given once per cycle for presentation given multiple times)
